Beer drinkers in Meriden, Connecticut mourned the onset of National Prohibition in January, 1920 by erecting this modest monument to John Barleycorn. Headstone reads, "In Memoriam -- John Barleycorn -- Born B.C. -- Died Jan. 16, 1920 -- Resurrection?"
