Full title: "The Theory and Practice of Brewing, by Michael Combrune, a Brewer. Printed with Permission of the Master, Wardens, and Court of Assistants of the Worshipful Company of Brewers."
Combrune is one of the most noted early brewer-authors, and this 1762 brewing text was his masterpiece. Combrune was credited with being the first to apply the use of the thermometer in brewing, the details of which he enumerates in this volume. He considered himself (and many agreed) to be "the first to attempt to bring rules, scientific principles, to what has been heretofore the Art of brewing." This original 1762 edition, with its full leather binding, is a true piece of brewing history.
Condition: Excellent. Some pages have mild foxing and rippling, but all are remarkably clean compared to the usual condition of books of this period. Hinges and binding strong and tight.Super rare and in magnificent condition!
