| Description: | A print from the late 1800s illustrating King Gambrinus and his many beer-drinking disciples. Gambrinus is shown in his usual pose, raising a foaming goblet of beer to the skies, while leaning on a large wooden beer barrel marked "Bock Bier," i.e. Bock Beer. A goat, the universal symbol of Bock Beer season, is nearby. Gambrinus's disciples include a range of beer-drinking characters, including one, at far left, who appears to be Uncle Sam in striped pants and blue jacket. At far right, a mother feeds her baby with beer. At the bottom, a young boy draws himself a glass of beer from the beer tap. |
