| Description: | An advertising lithograph from 1891 for the Gottfried Krueger Brewing Company of Newark, New Jersey. The print features a frolicsome female enticing an old man with a glass of beer. Draped in front of the table is an illustration of the Krueger Brewery. Looking on is a group of gnomes amid hop vines and barley stalks, representing two of the main ingredients in beer. At bottom is a calendar for the year 1891. Originally, this spot would have contained a calendar pad with tear-away sheets for each month. At lower right, in very small lettering, is the name of the lithographer: "H. Schile & Sons, 295 Bowery, N.Y." |
