| Description: | A print from 1891 called "The Toper's Dream." A toper is an old-fashioned term for a heavy drinker. Features five glasses and mugs of beer of increasingly larger size. Perhaps the suggestion is that a toper starts small, but then drinks more and more beer. Also shown is a tobacco pipe, a mandatory accoutrement for many 19th century beer drinkers. In small letters at right, on the table's edge, is the name of the artist: "Otto Norquist, St. Paul, 1891." |
