In October of 1936, the Master Brewers' Association of America held it's 33rd annual convention in Philadelphia. In commemoration of the event, the MBAA issued this special edition of The Life of Pasteur, translated into English (from the original French) by Mrs. D.L. Devonshire. In the book's preface, MBAA officials note the "wide gap in human knowledge which was filled by Pasteur," and assert that, "Without this kowledge, the modern brewing industry, as we have it, would be totally inconceivable." Thus, "It was felt peculiarly fitting that this great biography of a truly great man should be presented as a souvenir of a convention of the Master Brewers' Association of America." The book has nice gilt-stamp decoration on the spine, and the MBAA insignia gilt-stamped on the cover.
