What a neat little book this is! It is a verbatim reprint of a rare 1932 brewing book. Fantastic for brewers of historic beers.

The publisher explains: "Of the making of books on beer-bewing, there is no end. Dozens, these last few years, have spring from the presses in England as well as on this side of the water. Yet none has the authenticity, charm, and historic interest of a unique volume privately printed in 1932 entitled The Proceedings of the Company of Amateur Brewers. This rare book, as the author explains in his introduction, was never sold but, as the record of a secret society of amateur brewers, was given free to fewer than 300 members of this select group...

"To make this delightful and useful volume available to the public for the first time, we now publish the 1932 edition exactly as it was privately printed when the blight of National Prohibition lay heavy upon the land."

Table of Contents of the reprint:

  • Prolegomena
  • The Origin And Aims of the Company
  • A Beer View of History
  • The Drinks & Drinking Customs of Old New England
  • The General Principles of Modern Domestic Brewing
  • Company Recipes For Modern Domestic Brewing
  • The Domestic Brewing of the Olden Time
  • Recipes & Curious Lore of the Olden Time Brewing
  • A Bibulous Glossary of Old & New Words
