Item #1176

In 1969, Ronald Jan Plavchan presented his Master's Thesis to the faculty of St. Louis University in pursuit of a doctoral degree. His subject was the early history of Anheuser-Busch. The intensive nature of his research and the insight with which he examined the company's early years lead to publication of the work by Arno Press's well-respected Business Enterprise In America series. To this day, Plavchan's History of Anheuser-Busch, 1852-1933 remains the most detailed look at the brewery's earliest history.

This edition (reprinted by Ayer Company) is a hard cover re-issue of the original Arno Press edition, which was a simple duplication of Plavchan's original type-script. The text has never been type-set in a printer's font. Rather, the text appears in original type-script format. The volume includes footnotes, bibliographic information, and a series of appendices showing annual A-B beer sales, list of A-B presidents, etc. For the hard core Anheuser-Busch enthusiast, this is a must read.
