Hard Cover, 173 pages, 4.50 x 7.25.

Here is the 1867 edition of "The Brewer" by William Loftus. The full title of this edition is "The Brewer: A Familiar Treatise on thye Art of Brewing, with Special Directions for the Manufacture of Pale Ale & Bitter Beer, and the Use of Sugar by Brewers."

It is a fabulous little practical manual, giving a nice glimpse into the operations of a typical brewery of the early 1870s. At the rear of the book are several pages of advertisements for the variety of brewing-related products sold by the W.R. Loftus Company.

CONDITION: Very Good. Cover shows corner bumps and only minor wear. Inside is mostly clean. Publisher's original paste-downs on inside front cover and smaller on title page. A few pencil notations on first pages. Otherwise, pages are clean. Binding and hinges are strong. A very good copy.
